EH Athletics News - December 20, 2019

• Congrats to our EH boys swim team who were EHHS Invite Champs last Saturday! Leading the way was Matthew McDaniel who had two- 1st place finishes in an individual event (200IM & 500 Free) & contributed to another on a relay team (400 Free)
• Boys & Girls basketball will be hosting the Knightstown Panthers tonight for a Girls/Boys Varsity Doubleheader. Girls tip at 6pm with the boys to follow.
• The girls are 8-3 on the year & 4-1 in the MEC
• The boys are 2-2 overall and a perfect 2-0 in MEC play.
• Tonight at the Ktown basketball games the EH Athletic Boosters will be hosting a Porkburger dinner in the HS Café. Cost is $7.00 and proceeds will go toward the Riley Settergren & Don Willard scholarship funds.
• Our HS Wrestling Team will be traveling to Blackford tomorrow for their Invite.

EH Athletics News - December 9, 2019

Winter sports are in full swing- below are some of the highlights

• Girls Basketball
• Varsity girls basketball is currently 7-2 including 3 wins in a row! They are 3-1 in MEC play. JV has a 5-3 record. Next up is North Decatur tomorrow night.
• 8th grade girls basketball were champions this past weekend of the Delta Invitational! They defeated both Northeastern & Delta to win it.
• Boys Basketball
• Varsity boys basketball won its MEC opener over Wes-Del this past Saturday night 73-65. Overall record is 1-1. Our JV is 2-0. Next up is Northeastern on Friday.
• 8th grade boys basketball is currently 7-2 and the 7th grade is 5-4.
• Wrestling
• Varsity wrestling participated in the Lincoln Invite this past Saturday. Avery Willis led the way with a 4-1 record and 2 pins. Tyler Vandervliet went 2-0 on the day.
• They will travel to Triton Central tomorrow night.
• Swimming
• On the girls side Hannah Dolence & Cora McDaniel are leading the way. Each are top performers in 3 events. For the boys Aaron Surburg & Matthew McDaniel lead the way as top performers in 2 events each.
• Our swim team will be hosting their Invitational this Saturday. Start time will be 9am.

EH Athletics News - November 26, 2019

• Girls Varsity Basketball is off to a 4-1 start (3-0 MEC) heading into tonight’s conference match up at Shenandoah. The JV is 3-1.
• Varsity Wrestling opened up its season this past Saturday and competed well at the John Hurrie Invite at Tech High School. Trey Brown & Avery Wills led the way. Each had 3-2 records and 2 pins for 6th place in their weight division.
• Swimming had their first boys/girls meet last night at Centerville. Luken Edwards, Chase Morrow, Aaron Surburg, Mason Lardon, Ryan Dagley, Matthew McDaniel, Hannah Dolence, Cora McDaniel, & Olivia Bourquien all had 1st place finishes in an event.
• Boys V/JV basketball opens up its season tomorrow night as they will host the Centerville Bulldogs. JV tips at 6pm.

EH Athletics News - February 4, 2019

• Congrats to Martina Romano who was the 200 IM Sectional Champ at New Pal on Saturday! She will advance to the State Finals at IUPUI this Friday. This is the first time in school history we have had a swim sectional champ. She set two school records also. 
• SCHOOL RECORDS: 
• 200 IM-2:20.50 (Previous record 2:35.21) 
• 100 Breast- 1:14.44 (Previous record 1:19.25) 
• Congrats to Alexander Burton who finished 3rd in the 220 lb. weight class at the Perry Meridian Wrestling Regional. This placement advances him to the Semi-State next Saturday at New Castle. 
• Congrats to our boys C basketball team who were EH Invite Champs on Jan. 26th! They finished the year with 9 straight wins! 
• Congrats to our 2019 Hall of Fame Inductees- Daniela Debranova Drobna, Abbey Freeman Bolden, Breanna Lawyer, Brenda Wolski, Matt Simmons, and Dustin Smith 
• Congrats to our Loyal Royal 2019 Recipient- our very own Joe Paxton!

EH Athletics News - January 23, 2019

• Wrestling 
• Last night our HS Wrestling team finished in 3rd place out of 9 teams at the MEC meet at Shenandoah. Congrats to Garrett Friesen (170) and Alexander Burton (220) who were Conference Champs in their weight class. 
• This Saturday the Wrestlers will participate in the Sectional at Warren Central. 
• This Thursday our MS Wrestlers open up their season. They will host Rushville in the MS Gym. 6pm start 
• Swimming 
• The girls swim team wrap up their regular season schedule tonight when the travel to Hagerstown. Their sectional is next week on Thursday, Jan. 31 & Saturday, Feb. 2 at New Pal 
• Couple recent records that have fallen. 
• Martina Romano: 200 IM (2:28.88) dropped almost 5 seconds.... 
• Martina Romano: 100 Breast (1:17.84) 
• Girls Basketball 
• The Varsity girls basketball team wrapped up MEC play last night with a 40-27 win over Randolph S. The win moves them to 6-3 in the Conference and 3rd overall. 
• Senior Night for the girls will be Thursday Night when they host Tri. 
• The Lady Royals will open up Sectional play next Tuesday, Jan. 29 at Shenandoah when they take on Irvington Prep. 7:30pm 
• Boys Basketball 
• With a win over Morristown last night the C basketball team has won 7 straight and are 8-2 overall. They will finish their season this Saturday with the EH Invite beginning at 9am.

• The Varsity boys basketball team is currently 2-1 on the year and 1-0 in MEC play. JV is a perfect 3-0 on the season! 
• 7th & 8th Grade boys basketball continued their winning ways with 2 wins last week. 8th Grade is currently 8-0 and 7th Grade is 7-1 heading into their match up with Mount Vernon on Thursday. 
• 5th & 6th Grade boys basketball open up their season tonight at home vs. the Lapel Bulldogs.

• All of our Varsity winter sports are underway. Below are some of the early highlights. 
• Girls Basketball is off to a 4-2 start including 3-1 in conference play. 
• Wrestling opened up its season at the John Hurrie Invite 2 Saturdays ago at Arsenal Tech. Alexander Burton was Champion of his weight division (220)! 
• Both boys and girls swimming opened up its season with wins over Centerville. 
• Varsity and JV boys basketball opened up its season last Wednesday with wins over Centerville. 
• 7th & 8th Grade boys basketball teams are off to great starts. The 7th grade is currently 5-1 while the 8th grade is 6-0.

• Our Lady Royal Varsity Basketball team opened up its season with a 55-38 win over Centerville. 
• Our 8th Grade boys basketball team is off to a 4-0 start. They have defeated South Decatur, North Decatur, Shenandoah, & Lapel. 
• Our Varsity Wrestling team will open up its season Saturday when they travel to Indianapolis Tech for the John Hurrle Invitational. 9am start. 
• Our Boys Varsity Basketball team will participate in the MEC Jamboree on Saturday at Monroe Central. They will play Blue River for a half around 6pm. 
• This Wednesday will be Fall Sports Awards. They will begin in the high school gym at 7pm.

• Congrats our high school track members who will be advancing to the Regional this week. 
• Girls at Ben Davis on Tuesday Bailey Allen (Shot Put), Aly Spaulding (Long Jump), Taylor Stine (400) 
• Boys at North Central on Thursday 4 x 100 R team (Kyle Moore, Blayze Sarber, Skyler Sexton, Chase Settergren) & 4 x 800 R Team (Skyler Schrope, Cayden Sotelo, Will Huffman, & Daniel Campbell) 
• Our varsity softball team opens up sectional play tonight when they take on Howe at 7pm at Triton Central. LINK to the Sectional Bracket

• Congrats to our MS Boys Track team. For the 2nd consecutive year they were Hancock Champions and had an undefeated season.

• Congrats to Boys Middle School Boys 4 x 100 Relay Team (Ashton Smith, Houston Swan, Cole Rainbolt, & Zach Arnold) who were champions at the Middle School State Meet on Saturday at Terre Haute North. 

• Congrats to Tyler Castle who has committed to Aurora University to play Basketball.

EH Athletics News - April 23, 2018

• Congrats to John McDaniel who was the Hancock County Individual Champion in middle school golf. John shot a 40 at Royal Hylands this past Saturday to lead the pack! 
• Both the boys and girls track teams finished 4th out of 9 teams at the Guerin Catholic Invite this past Saturday. Individual winners included:
• Taylor Stine in the Girls 400 Meter Dash (1:02.53), Brady Stephens in the Boys Shot Put (44-02.50), Girls 4 x 100 Relay Team of Kayla Fancher, Lexi Lewman, Aly Spaulding, and Chloe O’Neal (53.15) 
• This week they will host the Eastern Hancock Track Invitational this Thursday. 
• This past week in Varsity softball Jessie Potts tossed a No-Hitter vs. Morristown & Elise Bittinger pitched a Shut-out vs. Daleville in wins this past week. 
• AJ Muegge was name 1st Team Academic All-State by the IBCA for Boys Basketball.

• Congrats to both are Boys & Girls HS Track teams. They were champions of the Small School Invitational at Randolph Southern this past Saturday. Individual Champions included 
• Hannah Gates, 100M Hurdles, Kayla Fancher, 100 Dash, 4 x 100 Relay Team of Fancher, Spaulding, Lewman, & O’Neal, Chloe O’Neal, 400 M Dash, 4 x 400 Relay Team of Fancher, Effing, Gates, & O’Neal, Aly Spaulding, Long Jump, Bailey Allen, Shot Put, 4 x 800 Relay Team of Huffman, Sotelo, Schrope, & Campbell, Skyler Sexton, 300 M Hurdles, 4 x 400 Relay Team of Schrope, Campbell, Sotelo, & Sarber, Long Jump, Kyle Moore 
• Girls Tennis has a big week this week which will include County at MV on Friday and Conference at Shenandoah on Saturday. 
• The Boys MS track team is off to a 2-0 start including a resounding win over Greenfield! 
• Congrats to Addison True who yesterday committed to play Basketball at Hanover University.

EH Athletics News - March 27, 2018

• Congrats to Chloe O’Neal who set a new EH girls long jump record with a jump of 17’0.5” at the Indoor State Track & Field Meet this past Saturday at IU. Her jump earned her a 2nd place finish. Other notable performances on the day included. 
• The girls 4 x 200 relay team of Kayla Fancher, Taylor Stine, Aly Spaulding, & O’Neal finished in 9th place. The girls 4 x 400 relay team of Fancher, Stine, O’Neal, & Hannah Gates finished 10th. The boys 4 X 4 relay team of Skyler Schrope, Skyler Sexton, Daniel Campbell, & Blayze Sarber finished in 13th place. The boys 4 x 200 relay team Kyle Moore, Sexton, Chase Settergren, & Sarber finished 14th. The boys 4 x 800 relay team of Will Huffman, Campbell, Cayden Sotelo, & Schrope finished in 15th place. 
• Our Varsity baseball team will hopefully open up it’s season Wednesday when they host Cowan in a MEC match up. Weather permitting. 
• Congrats to Addison True who will participate in the Hoosier Basketball Magazine Top 60 Seniors Workout this Saturday at Beech Grove High School. He was also named to the IBCA Small School All-State team for the 2nd consecutive year. 
• AJ Muegge, Addison True, Tyler Castle, Peyton Gray, and Skyler Schrope will be participating in the MEC vs. TEC All-Star basketball games on Friday, April 14th at Northeastern High School. The junior game will begin at 6:30pm and the Senior game at 8pm.

EH Athletics News - February 19, 2018

• Congrats to our Boys Swim team who finished with over 100 points in the Sectional for the 1st time in school history! Four school records fell which included: 
• 200 Medley Relay: 1:48.16 (Walton, Henderson, Coffin, and Harris), 500 Free: Chris Walton: 5:02.52, 100 Free: Elijah Harris: 50.82, 400 Free Relay: 3:29.23 (Henderson, Coffin, Walton, and Harris) 
• Congrats to the Varsity Boys Basketball team who earned a share of the MEC Conference Championship with a win Friday night. The Royals finished 8-1 and will be Co-Champs with the winner of the Shenandoah/Wapahani game this coming Friday. 
• Congrats to Addison True who on Friday became the All-Time leading scorer and rebounder in school history. He currently has 1450 points and 579 rebounds. 
• With 3 wins this past week the 6th grade girls basketball team moved to a perfect 10-0 on the year. They will end their season this week with a tourney at Mount Vernon. 
• Congrats to both the 5th Grade & 6th Grade Boys Basketball teams. The each won the EH Invite this past Saturday. The 5th Grade finished 12-4 and the 6th Grade 14-2. 
• This week’s Royal Pride Athletes of the Week are:

EH Athletics News - February 5, 2018

• Congrats to Clayton Cochard who finished 2nd place in the 195 lb division at the Wrestling Regional and Jordyn Wills who finished 3rd at 152. Both will be advancing to the Semi-State at New Castle next Saturday. 
• The girls swim team had an outstanding showing at the New Pal sectional. They finished 7th with 145 points and set 4 school records. 
• Megan Marcum: 200 Free (2:10.26) 
• Megan Marcum: 100 Breast (1:19.25) 
• 200 Free Relay: 1:50.51 (Griesmeyer, Huffman, Marcum, and Profitt) 
• 400 Free Relay: 4:09.02 (Griesmeyer, Huffman, Marcum, and Profitt) 
• The girls varsity basketball team lost a close one to Shenandoah in the Sectional Semi-Final on Friday. The girls finished a good season with a 14-10 record. 
• With a victory over Cowan this past Saturday the boys varsity basketball team moved to 6-1 in the MEC which keeps them tied for the lead with two conference games remaining.

EH Athletics News - January 29, 2018

• Congrats to Clayton Cochard who was the 195 lb Champion at the Shelbyville Wrestling Sectional on Saturday. Also advancing to the next Saturday’s Regional is Avery Wills, Jordy Wills, Garrett Friessen, and Alexander Burton! 
• Tomorrow evening the Varsity Girls Basketball Team opens up Sectional Play at Triton Central when they take on Irvington Prep at 6pm. Below is the entire Sectional Schedule. 
• G1: Eastern Hancock vs. Irvington Preparatory. Tues 
• G2: Indianapolis Howe vs. Knightstown. Tues 
• G3: Shenandoah vs. Winner of G1. Fri 
• G4: Triton Central vs. Winner of G2. Fri 
• Championship: Winner of G3 vs. Winner of G4. Sat 
• This Thursday our Girls Swim Team will participate in the Sectional Prelims at New Pal. Start time will be 5:30pm. Saturday the Finals will take place beginning at 1pm. 
• This past Saturday our Boys C Basketball Team completed their season by finishing Runner-up in the EH Invite. They wound up with a record of 8-7. That includes winning 6 of their last 8 games! 
• This Saturday our 7th & 8th Grade boys basketball teams will finish their season when they play in the County Tournament in Greenfield. Both teams will take on Doe Creek in the opening round. The 7th grade is currently 16-2 and the 8th grade is 15-2.
