EH Athletics News - December 18, 2017

  • The HS Wrestling team were champions of the Blackford Wrestling Invite this past Saturday.
    • The following young men were champions in their weight class. 
      • 120- Kegan Kendall, 138- Caleb Giddings, 152- Jordyn Wills, 160- Garrett Friesen, 195- Clayton Cochard, 220- Alexander Burton 
  • The Boys and Girls Varsity basketball teams swept the Knightstown Panthers in the doubleheader on Friday! The girls won going away 63-36 and the boys won an overtime thriller 47-43. 
  • The EH Athletic Boosters hosted a dinner Friday during the games with Knightstown. They raised enough money to give $1200 to both the Riley Settergren and Dylan Hiner Scholarship Funds! 
  • The 7th & 8th Grade Boys basketball teams swept Greenfield’s ‘A’ teams on Wednesday night. Both of those teams are currently 11-2! 
  • Good Luck to Coach O’Hara at Ben Davis University. He will finish up at EH on Wednesday before moving on. Thanks all your efforts over the last 4 years. You will be missed!

EH Athletics News - December 11, 2017

  • The Boys Swim team are champions of an Invitational for the 2nd time this winter. They captured the EH Invitational this past Saturday. The girls swim team finished 2nd. Records broken on the day included. 
    • 200 Medley Relay: Walton, Henderson, Coffin, and Harris (1:55.38) 
    • 100 Back: Chris Walton (59.60) 
  • The following wrestlers were champions of their weight class this past Saturday at the Lapel Invitational. All three went 5-0 on the day. 
    • Caleb Giddings (138) 
    • Jordy Wills (145) 
    • Clayton Cochard (195) 
  • With wins over Northeastern and Randolph Southern this weekend the Varsity Boys basketball team is 5-0 for the first time since 1989-90. The Royals are also 2-0 in the MEC. 
  • This Friday, December 15th will be the Annual EH vs. Knightstown boys/girls varsity basketball doubleheader. During the evening the EH Athletic Boosters will be hosting a Freewill Donation Dinner beginning at 5pm in the HS Cafe. Part of the proceeds will go to benefit the Scholarships created in honor of Dylan Hiner (Knightstown) and Riley Settergren (EH).

EH Athletics News - December 4, 2017

  • Our boys Varsity Swim Team were champions of the Lawrenceburg Invite this past Saturday. The girls varsity swim team finished runner up. First place finishes are listed below. 
    • Elijah Harris: 50 Free and 100 Free (2nd by Garret Henderson in 100) , Elise Huffman: 500 Free, Chris Walton: 500 Free and 100 Back (2nd by Aaron Surburg in 100 Back), Girls 400 Free Relay (Huffman, Griesmeyer, Profitt, and Marcum), Boys 200 Free and 400 Free Relay( Harris, Henderson, Bolding, and Walton--------Harris, Henderson, Coffin, Walton) 
  • The Wrestling team finished runner-up at the Cambridge City Lincoln Invite this past Saturday. Champions in their weight class included 
    • 145 Logan Francis 4-0, 220 Alexander Burton 4-0, HWT Wesley Myers 4-0 
  • With 2 wins this weekend the Boys Varsity Basketball Team is off to a 3-0 start for the first time since 1990-91. Next up is Northeastern this Friday. 
  • The 7th & 8th grade boys basketball teams are both 7-0 thus far this season. This Thursday they will travel to Mount Vernon to take on the Marauders. 
  • Congrats to following young men for football honors
    • AJ Muegge- IFCA Senior All-State, Brady Stephens & Alexander Burton- IFCA Junior All State 
  • This Saturday evening Elite Athletic Trends will be presenting a $5000 scholarship to a Hancock County Senior Football Player here at EH in the Auditorium. Details attached.

EH Athletics News - November 20, 2017

  • This past Saturday our Wrestling team finished in 8th place out of 24 teams at the John Hurrle Invite at Tech HS. Placing for the Royals were Avery Wills (7th-145), Jordyn Wills (7th- 152), Alexander Burton (4th-220), Clayton Cochard (4th-Hwt), and Wes Myers (3rd-195).
  • Our girls Varsity basketball team is off to a 2-0 start in the MEC. They are 3-2 overall. Tomorrow they travel to Shenandoah for a conference matchup against the Raiders.
  • Our swim teams will have their first Coed meet tonight as they travel to Centerville to take on the Bulldogs. The girls opened up their season last week in a tri meet with Batesville and New Castle. The girls defeated the Trojans. First places finished included Elise Huffman: 200 Free and 500 Free, Tatum Profitt: 200 IM, and the Girls 400 Free Relay Team.
  • Our Varsity/JV boys basketball teams will open up its season this coming Wednesday when the host Centerville! 6pm JV tip.
  • Our boys 7th & 8th grade boys basketball teams are both a perfect 4-0. The host the Vikings of Blue River tonight

  • This past Saturday both our 7th & 8th grade boys basketball teams both won a round robin event at North Decatur. They each defeated South Decatur and North Decatur to open up their seasons with a 2-0 records. 
  • This coming Saturday 2008 EH Alum Caleb Kennedy will be inducted into the Huntington University Athletics Hall of Fame. This event will take place at halftime of the Huntington Men’s Basketball Game which tips at 1pm.

EH Athletics News - October 23, 2017

  • The Varsity football team defeated Centerville 35-21 in Round 1 of Sectional 37 this past Friday. Next up the Royals will take on Scecina at the University of Indianapolis this Friday. 7pm start.
  • Skyler Schrope ran a career best 17:09 time this past Saturday at the Cross Country Semi-State. That time was good enough for 3rd on the all-time EH list and best overall time by a junior.
  • Congrats to Laurie Eells who was named All MEC Conference in volleyball.
  • This coming Saturday the Lady Royal Varsity basketball team will participate in the MEC Jamboree at Randolph Southern. They will take on Daleville for one half at approximately 6:30pm.
  • Congrats to our Middle School Cheerleaders who took 1st Place at the Indiana MS Cheer Championship sponsored by the IASP at Westfield this past Saturday!

EH Athletics News - October 16, 2017

  • Congrats to our Varsity volleyball team. They finished their season with a 21-14 record and were runner-up in the Sectional. 
  • Congrats also to Skyler Schrope who qualified for the Cross Country Semi-State at the Regional this past Saturday. The Semi-State will take place at Blue River Park in Shelbyville this coming Saturday. Other runners who had qualified for the Regional included Will Huffman, Daniel Campbell, Nick Edwards, Liberty Durham, and Annie Floyd. 
  • Our Varsity football team opens up Sectional play at Centerville this Friday. 7pm start.

EH Athletics News - October 2, 2017

  • Our cross country teams participated in the MEC meet this past Saturday. The girls finished in 3rd place with Annie Floyd earning all-conference honors. The boys finished 4th with Skyler Schrope & Will Huffman earning all-conference. They will run in the sectional this coming Saturday at New Pal. 
  • The Sectional Draw is out for football. The Royals will open up tourney play on Oct. 20th when they travel to Centerville to take on the Bulldogs. You can access the entire tourney bracket by clicking on this LINK
  • EH will be hosting IHSAA Volleyball Sectional 42. The sectional begins on Thursday, Oct. 12th. However, the Royals drew a bye so they will open up with the Howe Hornets on Saturday, Oct. 14th at 12:30pm. You can access the sectional bracket by clicking this LINK 
  • A special thanks to the Indianapolis Colts. EH was their destination for their Friday night tourney this past week. The Colts presented us with a check for $1500 and had lots of fun activities.

    EH Athletics News - September 25, 2017

    • The past two weeks have been good ones for the Varsity football team. On Friday, Sept. 15 EH defeated Knightstown for the 5th consecutive year thus retaining the Anvil. This past Friday they defeated the North Decatur Chargers moving them to a 5-1 record. This Friday is Homecoming as the Royals will host the Bears from Monroe Central. 
    • Jarett Lewis has become the all-time EH career leader in passing yards. 
    • Will Huffman moved into the all-time boys XC EH Top 10 5K times by running a 17:26 at the Delta Classic this past Saturday. The Cross Country teams will run in the MEC conference meet this coming Saturday at Blue River.

    EH Athletics News - September 11, 2017

    • This past Saturday the boys cross country team finished 4th out of 13 teams at the Randolph S. Invite. Skyler Schrope finished 3rd overall (17:42) and Will Huffman ran a career best (17:49) and placed 6th. This coming Saturday EH hosts its annual XC Invite 
    • This coming Saturday the girls golf team will participate in the Sectional at Old Oakland Country Club. Currently, Lucy Cochard has a leading average of 54.0 followed by Jocelyn Duncan at 58.1 
    • This past Saturday our Girls HS volleyball team volunteered at the Charlottesville Fish Fry for their Community Service Project. Currently the varsity team is 12-7 and 3-2 in the MEC 
    • This coming Friday will be the annual battle for the Anvil. The Royals look to defeat Knightstown for the 5th consecutive year in Varsity Football

      EH Athletics News - September 5, 2017

      • This past Saturday at the Marion Invitational Skyler Schrope ran the 4th fastest 5K time in EH history finishing at 17:16.2 in the Cross Country Meet
      • Our Varsity football team had a great come from behind win this past Friday at Northeastern. After trailing 24-6 at half the Royals scored 22 unanswered points to post a 28-24 win. The victory moves the Royals to 2-1 on the season.

      EH Athletics News - August 28, 2017

      • Our Varsity volleyball team went 3-0 this past Saturday at the Deaf School Invitational. They defeated Southwestern, Sheridan, and Indiana Deaf. The wins make them 9-4 on the year and 1-0 in the MEC. 
      • Jarett Lewis set the record for career Touchdown passes in the Varsity Football team’s 54-7 win over South Decatur Friday night. 
      • Our girls golf team finished fourth in the MEC meet out of 10 teams this past Saturday. Lucy Cochard and Jocelyn Duncan earned all-conference honors. 
      • Both the boys and girls middle school tennis teams defeated Knightstown this past Saturday. Each team has a current 3-1 record. 
      • This Wednesday will be our first annual Royal Pride for Parents Rally. Start time is 7pm.  CLICK HERE for a flyer on the evening.

      EH Athletics News - August 21, 2017

      • Our Varsity volleyball team is off to a 5-2 start! This past Saturday they finished 2-2 at the Shenandoah Invite. Faithe Webster was name to the All-Tourney Team. They have their home opener Tuesday vs. Centerville. 
      • Our 8th Grade football team is 2-0. In their two games they have scored 99 points and given up 0. 
      • Boys HS Tennis and MS Tennis both opened up its season with wins last week. The HS boys knocked off Southwestern and the MS team defeated Waldron. 
      • This past Saturday Skyler Schrope (10th) & Will Huffman (15th) were medalists at the Monroe Central Boys Cross Country Invitational. 
      • Our Varsity Football team has its home opener this Friday, Aug. 25th. Start time is 7pm. 
      • We are excited to announce our 1st Annual Royal Pride for Parents Rally on August 30that 7pm in the newly renovated auditorium.       EH Athletics News - August 15, 2017

      • Welcome to the first 2017-18 edition of EH Athletic News!
      • Our fall athletics teams are up and running. Some highlights early on.
        • Our Varsity volleyball team is 1-0 as the opened up with a win last night over North Decatur.
        • Our boys and girls middle school tennis team opened up their season with wins over Waldron.
        • Our 8th grade football team dominated North Decatur in its opener 51-0.
      • On Friday our Varsity Football team open up its season at Greenfield Central. It will be the first football game on their brand new turf field. Start time is 7:30pm
      • We are excited to announce our 1st Annual Royal Pride for Parents Rally on August 30that 7pm in the newly renovated auditorium. We have great speakers lined up as well as giveaways and more.       • Lady Royal HS Track Team finished 6th out of 13 teams in the Sectional this past Tuesday at Pendleton Heights. They also finished 1st out of the 8 Class 1A & 2A teams. Individual scorers included: Katie Janes 8th in 100 & 200, Taylor Stine 2nd in 400 (Regional Qualifier), Lainey Effing 6th in 1600, Hannah Gates 7th in 100 H & 3rd in 300 H (Regional Qualifier), Lexi Lewman 4th in LJ, Aly Spaulding 7th in LJ, Emily Wilson 8th in Discus, 4 x 100 Team Lexi Lewman, Katie Janes, Aly Spaulding, Whitney Bishop (6th), 4x 400 Team Lainey Effing, Aly Spaulding, Hannah Gates, Taylor Stine (5th), 4 x 800 Team Lainey Effing, Annie Floyd, Liberty Durham, Taylor Stine (6th), Bailey Allen Shot Put Champ (Regional Qualifier)

      • The middle school boys track team won the County this past week!

      • The Varsity Baseball team finished the regular season 12-12. They open up sectional play Wednesday at Triton Central at 5pm when they take on the Tigers.

      • This past Saturday Kayla Huff was #2 Singles Girls Tennis Champion at the EH Invitational
